State of the Energy Market Report

The International Energy Agency (IEA) is a global leader in many topics relating to energy, including technological development. The IEA has a detailed online guide covering the progress of over 400 individual technologies, including 40 associated with storage. The report can be found here.

An editorial report from Nature providing insight into the environmental and human costs of batteries. The Lithium-ion battery value chain

The Australian Government released a report in 2019 arguing the potential for Australia to expand beyond the mining stage of the global lithium value chain. The facts presented in the report are compelling, Australia has 50% global share of mined lithium, and 0% share of every other step in the chain. In fact, China holds 89% of global lithium refining capacity, ultimately leading to Australia importing 100% of the grid storage lithium batteries.
